FAQs

Your questions; our answers.
The prosthesis fits over an orbital implant and under the eyelids. Though often referred to as a glass eye, the ocular prosthesis roughly takes the shape of convex shell and is made of medical grade plastic acrylic. PEC Centre promise to use the best material to make our prosthetic.
Ocularists may charge RM 5,000.00 to RM 8,500 for an acrylic eye and implant, but in PEC centre we will charge much lower than this price and only our center will provide continuous services with warranty up to 3 years.
Whether you are receiving your first prosthetic eye, or your tenth prosthesis, a major concern for most patients is the movement of a new prosthesis. A prosthetic eye will be custom fit over your ocular implant to move in accordance with your implant’s movements. Prosthetic eye movement is not without its limitations.
The integrity of the materials of a prosthetic eye made at PEC Centre will last for at least ten years. However, most people will need a replacement at approximately 3-5 years due to the settlement of soft tissue in the eye socket. PEC Centre also will provide polishing service whenever you need it by appointment.
To insert the prosthesis with your fingers – lift the upper lid with your index finger to create an opening and slide the top edge of the prosthesis under the upper lid. While holding the artificial eye in place, release the upper lid and pull down the lower lid to insert the prosthesis into position.
To remove, press the lower eye lid down, until you see the edge of the shell. Slide the tip of your pointer finger under the lower edge of the prosthetic and together with the middle finger hold the artificial eye and pull it downwards out of the eye cavity.
The artificial eye should be cleaned at least once a day. Best is to place it in its plastic container with lukewarm water. To remove persistent contamination, place the glass eye in water which contains one teaspoon of salt per litre for about 10 minutes. Afterwards, wash your prosthesis thoroughly with clear water.
  1. Use gauze or tissue soaked in cooled boiled water to clean away any discharge on your eyelids or your eyelashes.
  2. Use warm water and mild, non-scented soap to wash your artificial eye.
  3. Rinse the eye thoroughly using sterile water before you refit it.
We can send our representative to your site by appointment to sizing and measuring after the artificial eye is ready we will courier to you after full payment. Our center is located in the Centre of Petaling Jaya and the Best Western Hotel is just above our Centre, so you may plan to come down as well.
